NASL Outsider 2-15-2013

NASL Outsider 2-15-2013

Welcome to the latest NASL Outsider. On this day of love hangovers, or just plain hangovers. We are again looking forward to preparation and just like last night, the devil is in the details. So since we are as afraid of the devil as any reasonably hungover post-Valentinian should be, we will paint this weeks post-debaucherous, pre-seasonal NASL Outsider with the broadest brush possible. {How was that for an excuse to be the hacks we always are?}

So let’s skip the foreplay and jump right into it, shall we?

It appears as if the fabled NY Cosmos are becoming a reality. The official Clausera schedule was released this week and the Cosmos begin second NASL stint on August 3, 2013 by squaring off with historical rival the Ft. Lauderdale Strikers.

Just as (not) shocking is the omission of the Islanders. The official line is the Islanders will return in 2014. We will keep you updated as to the likely hood of that according to our sources.

(Not Racing) Indy are allowing the fans to pick the official team colors. We think the Brickyard Battalion should get the nod in a just world, although every combo offered looks a decent choice. With the one and only Wilt steering the ship, we expect the result to be a sight to behold, regardless of the color scheme.

Wilt also tells us they are in talks with four different kit suppliers. We wouldn’t expect a budget kit from the likes of Wilt and co. so look for a Nike kit is our uninformed guess.

Preseason is in full swing, players are here, there and everywhere. As far as we can tell, the reigning champs are getting some serious stick from their own fans during a few preseason matches. The fans ire always seems to swirl around one controversial figure. Is this a case of just never being happy with what you have? Are the kids throwing their toys from the pram?

Let us know what you think, drop us a line, or tell us we are wrong on social media. No matter what you guys think or want to bring up, we are always thrilled to hear from you.

Until next week, be well everyone.

  1. There is a big Adidas warehouse in Indy and they also supply for IU and ND. I wouldn’t be surprised if Indy was waring the three stripes when they unveil the first kits
