The Chase; Week 34

The 10 teams that will compete for MLS Cup 2012 have been set and the only thing left to decide is seeding. The most possible scenarios are in the Eastern Conference while the brackets are pretty much set in the West.

Eastern Conference Standings

Rank – Team – Games Played – Points – Games this week
1. Sporting Kansas City – 33 – 60 – 10/24 v.Phi
2. DC United – 33 – 57 – 10/27 @Chi
3. Chicago Fire – 33 – 56 –  10/27 v.DC
4. New York Red Bulls – 33 – 54 – 10/27 @Phi
5. Houston Dynamo – 33 – 53 –  10/27 @Col

The only thing we know about the Eastern Conference playoff bracket is that Sporting Kansas City will not be playing in the 4th vs 5th Wild Card game. Any point will earn SKC the top spot in the East. New York holds the tie breaker over every team in the playoff picture with DC 2 goals behind them. DC will hope to catch SKC and win the East, but could also find themselves in the Wild Card game if results don’t go their way. Houston and New York will be hoping to avoid the extra game.

Western Conference Standings

Rank – Team – Games Played – Points – Games this week
1. San Jose Earthquakes – 33 – 65 – 10/27 @Por
2. Seattle Sounders – 33 – 56 –  10/28 @LAG
3. Real Salt Lake – 33 – 56 – 10/27 v.Van
4. LA Galaxy – 33 – 51 – 10/28 v.Sea
5. Vancouver Whitecaps – 33 – 42 – 10/27 @RSL

The match ups in the West are set. The only thing that is left to play for is the order in which Seattle and Salt Lake finish. LA will host Vancouver with the winner taking on San Jose. The Earthquakes celebrated the Supporter’s Shield victory last week with week.
