Missing in Action: Keon Daniel
Hey everyone! Im sorry I havent written in a while, Ive been working and then we had the relaunch and blah blah blah. I dont know about the rest of you people, but Im incredibly excited for the upcoming season. Since the end of last season, Ive basically had nothing to talk about and its been killing me. So now that were getting closer to game time, lets talk about my favorite thing to talk about: Keon Daniel.
Its no secret that Im the #1 fan of Keon Predator Daniel. If anyone wants to challenge me for that title, come to Section 138 and well see who can scream strongPredator/strong more times at the top of their lungs. As we all know, its a tough time to be a supporter of Keon, because we havent seen him in forever. Since August, he hasnt been able to get back into the country (that we know of) and it was even rumored that he had Dengue fever. Will Keon return to the Union this season? Murph isnt optimistic, but Im still holding out. Why else would we have kept the guy on our protected list?
So whats the big deal with this guy, and why the hell is he called the Predator? The nickname Predator came from a guy behind me in 138 who yells some of the best stuff during the games, and is given to Keon because of his hair. So why do we need him, its not like were short on midfielders. Keon is our strongest option for the left wing, for a great number of reasons. First, hes left footed. I dont know if anyone noticed, but we dont seem to have many of those on our team.
Second, he plays defense, and he plays it well. This season was an interesting season for the left back position. We saw Jordan Harvey, who played really well and was reliable, then we had Gabe Farfan, who played well but was clearly out of his element at times. With a good midfielder in front of an unproven left back, the Unions defense should be solid. (I say unproven because we dont know who it is)
Third, hes tall. I dont know how many of you have stood right in front of the Predator, but he isnt a small guy. I shouted him down for an autograph once, and he was easily our tallest midfielder at about 62. This is important because everyone else on the team is so short. The Union dont really knock in the head balls, so a tall guy is necessary to give us another target up top. (Quick note: Keons only goal last season was on a header)
Fourth, he has experience. Keon has made 49 appearances for Trinidad and Tobagos national team, scoring eight goals. The best part about that experience is that hes only 24! (Soon to be 25, wish him a happy birthday on Jan. 16th!) With all of the young players that we have, its good to have a player in the midfield with poise, who isnt afraid to possess the ball.
Keon brings so much to the team, we need to have him back. With the team not giving up the slightest bit of information, its difficult to tell what is going to happen. All we can do is hope that he returns before the season starts. Keep DOOPing, my friends.
